Disruption Interruption podcast host and veteran communications disruptor, Karla Jo Helms, recently sat down with Alvin Foo, Venture Partner at Zero2Launch, to learn what is revolutionizing Web 3.0, blockchain and data ownership — and the impact on the future of finance.

(Tampa Bay, FL) March 12th, 2024 – Web 1.0 emerged in the 1990s and three decades later the world is on the edge of a new era that will be determined by who controls data. In the U.S., 81 percent of the population doesn’t feel they have control over the data companies collect about them, according to Pew Research. Web 3.0 will have a new data model focused on making personal information private again by building on opt-in systems with universal and specific changeable settings. (1)

Based on blockchain technology, many cryptocurrencies are decentralized networks and are not regulated by any central government authorities, which makes them immune to any government interventions. Enter Alvin Foo, crypto space entrepreneur and innovator, who explains to Karla Jo Helms, the host of the Disruption/Interruption podcast, that decentralization makes data users themselves the most valuable data providers.

Foo also emphasizes the impact of continuous learning on startups in the crypto space and the complexity that technology brings. “Keeping pace with the rapid changes in technology, while important, is not the end of learning,” notes Foo. “It is equally important for people to unlearn — in order to be able to adapt to change, especially with AI and machine learning.” He adds, “Web 3.0 isn't just about blockchain. It encompasses everything, and that includes AI.”
