KJ loves Glee

KJ loves the singing and dancing on Glee – must be her days on her collegiate precision dance team. This is for her – “You Can’t Stop the Beat!”

A Worldly Musical Tour de Force

I don’t know if you are familiar with the Australian group Dead Can Dance and I confess I have only recently discovered them but boy oh boy the can really make some outstanding music. I am sitting here listening right now and feel so inspired by their sound. I should say made as they broke up but there have been reunion tours. DCD is “an ethereal neoclassical duo formed in Melbourne, Australia, in August 1981, by Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry. The band relocated to London in May 1982 and disbanded in 1998. Their 1996 album Spiritchaser reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top World Music Albums Chart. Australian music historian Ian McFarlane described Dead Can Dance as having an ambient style of world music that “constructed soundscapes of mesmerizing grandeur and solemn beauty…with African polyrhythms, Gaelic folk, Gregorian chants, Middle Eastern mantras, and art-rock.” (Thank You Wikipedia)

Dancing with the Wrecking Crew Orchestra

WCO is a very famous Japanese dance team. I think you will really dig what they can do. Watch them perform an intricately-lit Tron-themed routine in the dark wearing specially-designed glow-suits. The glow-suits showcase a type of dance technology in which performers are strapped with wireless, light-emitting ribbons and tapes that can be controlled remotely.

Laibach – Ballad of a Thin Man

I always loved this Bob Dylan song and this version sung by Laibach is really interesting. Laibach [ˈlaɪbax] is a Slovenian avant-garde music group associated with industrial, martial, and neo-classical musical styles. The name “Laibach” is the German name for Slovenia’s capital city, Ljubljana.

Pee Wee Herman – Tequila

Hilarious scene of Pee Wee Herman walking into a biker bar….and well if you saw the flick you will really enjoy this take. Pee Wee must be making a comeback of sorts as he was recently on Top Chef Texas when they were at the Alamo of course.
