Five Quirky Holiday Traditions Around the U.S.

Christmas is a magical time of year and we’ve searched high and low to deliver a variety of nostalgic and quirky traditions to give cheer to all.

If you have a penchant for elves, head to Mobile, Alabama for Elfapalooza, where each year residents try to break the world record for the most elves in one place.

Head to Chandler, Arizona to catch a glimpse of and photograph the world’s largest tumbleweed Christmas tree.

Each year Rochester, NY decorates a tree made from 430 kegs of beer and covered in 2,000 feet of lights.

In Chimney Rock, NC, Santa Claus rappels down the biggest chimney in the state; high in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

…. And one Heart-Warming Tradition

Wreaths Across America, a non-profit organization, lays out holiday wreaths on thousands of graves in Arlington National Cemetery as well as 1,200 other U.S. locations. They honor thousands and thousands of our fallen heroes with a blanket of greenery for Christmas. Thank you, Wreaths Across America.

Looking Forward to Picking out the Perfect Family Christmas Tree? This Year it’s an Online Wonderland

Just when you thought it was great enough to get gifts for everyone on your list – with free shipping on most items and delivered to your door or theirs – Amazon has upped their own game. They now deliver fresh, real Christmas trees to your doorway – within 3-7 business days for Prime customers. Great news for families in a rush, though the Griswolds would be disappointed to miss out on the experience of personally picking ‘that favorite’ tree in the field.

A Magical Journey into Christmas Pop Culture

Hallmark’s Christmas movie marathons, once known merely for their heart-warming yet cliché plots, have become chic pop culture, spawning sales of sweat shirts and party ideas that proclaim the coolness of being a Hallmark junkie.  Two years ago, I came down with a pretty nasty cold on December 21 and could muster only enough energy to watch back-to-back-to-back Hallmark Christmas movies for several days. At the time I was embarrassed to admit having ‘binge watched’ a whopping 10 movies. Now I’m magically cool —like the other 84 million people who watched last year.

Whether you embrace tradition or seek out your own unique way to celebrate the magic that is Christmas, JoTo PR wishes you peace and happiness.

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah from all of us at JOTO PR!
