Client in the News: White Men as Full Diversity Partners News Spotlight with TechRepublic

Diversity in Tech Companies – They Need Solutions and Not Problems

JoTo PR client, White Men As Full Diversity Partners, was featured in a highly-targeted industry news article in TechRepublic entitled Diversifying Tech: Yes, White Men Can be Part of the Solution and Not the Problem.

Tech companies like Google and Intel have poured millions of dollars into diversity programs, while others like Dropbox and Twitter have recently hired chief diversity officers. But amid all of these efforts, the role of white men—who are disproportionately represented in leadership roles—often goes unexamined, a missed opportunity for making positive changes, according to Bill Proudman, co-founder and CEO of the leadership development consulting firm White Men As Full Diversity Partners (WMFDP).

“It’s not sustainable to have one section of the population that is disproportionately in senior leadership roles to not see this issue as being about them, but being about everybody else,” Proudman said. “You can’t bash this group, but you can’t afford to candy-coat this issue. Tech companies especially should be striving for diversity and inclusion, as research shows those two factors drive innovation and creativity, Proudman said. “In the tech sector, if you’re not innovative, you’re a dinosaur,” he said.

“White Men as Full Diversity Partners (WMFDP) is a diversity and leadership development firm in Portland, Oregon, founded in 1996 by Bill Proudman, Michael Welp, Ph.D., and Jo-Ann Morris. WMFDP takes an unorthodox approach towards eradicating bias and discrimination in the workplace. Their client list includes Alaska Airlines, Dell, Lockheed Martin, Northwestern Mutual, Chevron Drilling & Completion, The Nature Conservancy, Mass Mutual, and more. The majority of C-level executives are white and male, and they are frequently omitted from a vital role in diversity and equality. Proudman and Welp observed that these critical subjects were not being taken to the doorstep of these leaders—all to the detriment of struggling minorities and the economy as a whole.”

TechRepublic is a monthly magazine that serves as the ultimate professional resource and community for members of the IT sector, including CEOs, CIOs, CFOs, CMOs, IT directors, IT managers, IT professionals, and everyone whoe job requires making decisions about technology.
