Oklahoma City Residents Would Save Annually by Working Remotely

JoTo PR Client, ULTATEL, was featured in an article in NewsOK titled, Trade Talk: Will half of Oklahomans be working remotely by 2020?

Workers waste a lot of time and money commuting to the office. That’s a given. But what’s interesting are the number of dollars — and hours — we do fritter away. If we workers in Oklahoma City worked from our homes versus our offices, we’d save up to $389 annually on gas; $194 as part-time telecommuters. That’s according to a recent study by SimpleTexting of average commute times and gas prices. “Cloud-based technology is allowing workers to access their information and customer base from anywhere at any time and is imperative for working remotely both now and in the future,” said Amr Ibrahim, CEO of ULTATEL.

Perhaps most importantly, Oklahoma City workers would save 182.87 hours a year — three and a half hours a week — if we skipped going to the office altogether. Telecommuting is the future anyhow, according to other analysis. Not surprisingly, workers in New York City have the most to gain through telecommuting: 6.6 hours every week. Meanwhile, workers nationwide would reap an average savings of up to $555 on gas annually by working from home full-time; $278 half-time. Analysts used the U.S. Census Bureau, Gas Buddy and Brookings as data sources.
