HBO Could Use the Night’s Watch to Protect Itself
JoTo PR client, Spohn Consulting, was featured in mega-publication Variety in an article about the recent Game of Thrones Leaks called HBO Hacks and Leaks: How Much Have They Hurt the Business
This past summer HBO suffered from the annoyance of getting hacked and having their wildly popular tv show, Game of Thrones released into the wild weeks before they were supposed to.
But has HBO been dealt a massive blow? While publicly Time Warner has said no financial trouble has come out of the most recent hack but the alleged hacker boasts that over 1.5 terabytes of data has been stolen. For the none-techies out there, that is WAY more than a few episodes of TV.
Tim Crosby, senior cybersecurity contractor, was asked for his opinion on the damages from this hack. Mr. Crosby is keen on the fact that we don’t know the extent of the internal files stolen from HBO contain. No matter how good Game of Thrones might be, those being leaked may not bring damage, but those other files might. This is a situation HBO needs to handle quickly before they are hit with another attack.
