The Ft. Harrison Hotel will play host to A Night on Broadway benefit concert for the Sunscreen Film Festival for the third year. A Night on Broadway will feature some of the most popular songs from Broadway and will take place on Saturday, September 3rd at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $30 each, or $250 for a table of 10. All proceeds will benefit the 6th Annual Sunscreen Film Festival.
The Sunscreen Film Festival is a 501(c)3 charitable organization with the mission to promote film and a cultural and economic asset in the Tampa Bay area, support Florida filmmakers, and to teach the art of visual storytelling. The festival is a project of the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Film Society.
A Night on Broadway features the talents of the group “Broadway and Beyond”, the Performing Arts Department of Clearwater Academy International and the Flag Band. Musicals represented include Cabaret, Chicago, Rent and Phantom of the Opera.
Doors will open at 7:00, and guests will be treated to a New York-style dessert buffet created by the Gold-medal winning chefs of the Ft. Harrison, including made-to-order crepes, milk shakes and black and white cookies. There will also be a silent auction and cash bar.
Originally built in 1926, the historic Ft. Harrison is now owned by the Church of Scientology and is open to the community for charitable events. Previous community groups who have utilized the Ft. Harrison include the Clearwater Downtown Partnership, Ebony Awakening, Harlem Nights and the Krewe of Venus.
“Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard said that ‘A culture is only as great as its dreams, and its dreams are dreamed by artists,’ said Church representative Lisa Mansell. “We like to help groups connected with the arts and are excited to do so.”
