7th Annual Sunscreen Film Festival Helps Boost Economy for Tampa Bay

Downtown St. Petersburg will host the 7th Annual Sunscreen Film Festival, brining jobs, visitors and entertainment to Tampa Bay

(TAMPA BAY, Fla.,) – While Tampa Bay is a hot destination spot for many travelers, the7th Annual Sunscreen Film Festival is sure to bring new faces to the Tampa Bay area. The festival will be held on April 19-22, 2012, in Downtown St. Petersburg, and will include workshops, free concerts, film screenings, and entertainment.

Last year, Hillsborough County welcomed nearly 17 million visitors who spent more than $3 billion in the Tampa Bay community. On average, an overnight visitor will spend $341 per day and that spending supports more than 50,000 local jobs, which pay $847 million in wages (1). The 7th Annual Sunscreen Film Festival provides an opportunity to help Tampa Bay’s Economy grow tremendously in four days. Based on a 2008 Sunscreen Film Festival Visitor and Economic Impact Study, the reports showed that the festival generates over $417, 347 each year into the local economy, and over 50% of visitors plan to return to the area to attend future festivals.
