5 Ways to Avoid a PR Meltdown – Both Online and Off

Ice Cube

As someone who has been working in PR and crisis management for much longer than I care to publicize online, I found this article by Aliza Sherman to be a good, simple look at some basics that any business can apply. These basics apply to all forms of crisis management, not just social media. The only point that I disagree with is point 5. No news is NOT good news. Keeping quite is not a good plan. However, Aliza’s point on people not wanting to hear you defend yourself is correct. If your crisis management plan is defensive then you have missed the boat entirely. As a whole the article is worth a quick read so you can find it here gigaom.com
