As someone who has been working in PR and crisis management for much longer than I care to publicize online, I found this article by Aliza Sherman to be a good, simple look at some basics that any business can apply. These basics apply to all forms of crisis management, not just social media. The only point that I disagree with is point 5. No news is NOT good news. Keeping quite is not a good plan. However, Aliza’s point on people not wanting to hear you defend yourself is correct. If your crisis management plan is defensive then you have missed the boat entirely.
