Critical Tool in Nation’s Opioid Crisis has Lawmakers Investigating Skyrocketing Price
JoTo PR Client, Novus Medical Detox, is featured in an article on Cox Broadcasting’s affiliate, WSB in Atlanta, entitled Senators Demand Answers Over Skyrocketing Prices for Overdose Drug.
Emergency responders and drug counselors can attest to the fact that Evzio, an injectable version of Naloxone, has saved thousands of lives from an overdose. But the company that makes the drug, Kaleo, has raised the price of Evzio more than 600 percent since 2014, to $4,500 a dose. As more first responders began carrying the anti-overdose drug, Kaleo upped the price.
Kent Runyon of Novus Medical Detox Center treats patients battling addiction. He said he’s seen people scared away from the life-saving drug by the sky-high sticker price. “It’s of no use to anyone if it’s not available,” Runyon told Gray.
“Novus Medical Detox Centers offer safe, effective alcohol and drug treatment programs known for minimizing the discomfort of withdrawal and customizing programs for each patient. They know how important it is to find a medical detox facility with proven results; where patients are always treated as individuals with dignity and respect in a non-judgmental environment.”
